| CHAIRMANS REPORT | |||||||
| I intended to begin my report by saying that paradoxically if there has been one constant over my five years as Chairman of Thorpe United FC has been development. With any development come change and the management of change. This in itself is challenging, but in reality it has been easy to manage because of the qualities of the people at the club. The qualities of which do not change even if the demands on people do. Whether it to be an officer, volunteer, committee member, coach or member it is all of us as individuals working together as a team, which makes this club so successful. Performances on the pitch have once again excelled throughout every section. It is pleasing to see a change in culture of which performance is measured by, putting less emphasis on winning and more on inclusion and enjoyment. Our inclusive programme ensures we offer football for all regardless of ability gender or race. We know have formal links with Brayton Belles and a fast growing disability section. Our inclusive programme gives members more opportunities for success, personal wellbeing, greater independence whilst building friendships and teamwork. People have worked hard over the past years to bring extra revenue into the club and we are now reaping rewards of having an event calendar. This would not be achievable without hardwork and commitment form everyone at the club. Keep up the good work. We have purchased new mobile goal post's, samba goals and have once again invested in the pitches. The pitches are now in the best condition whilst I have been at the club. The club have submitted an application to become a community club and now have a development plan in place to assist in taking the club forward. This plan identifies all aspects of improvement and development. On a personal note I have probably enjoyed this year of my five the most. The reason for this is relationships and friendships. Confrontation, conflict and disagreements are part of any club, which is healthy if dealt with correctly, and this season we have had a few. All have been resolved amicably and respectfully. The main challenge to the club is getting the right people in place to take the development plan forward I would like to thank you all for your loyalty and commitment over the past 12 months. A very good all round performance by all connected to the club. Richard A Douglas Chairman TUAFC |
