Thorpe United   2 - 1   Kippax Welfare
Thorpe went into this Barkston Ash Cup Final played at Selby Town FC on the back of winning there first Trophy under Jose Logue the previous week when they won the York FA Senior Cup 2-1 against local rivals Hounds FC for the 1st time in there History.

Thorpe started the Barkston Ash Cup Final(JB PLOWS CUP) rather nervously without any real flow but quarter of an hour into the game they burst into life when a great ball over the back of the Kippax left back was latched onto by Steve Lyon who made no mistake with a superb volley cross which was met at the far post by Cup Final specialist Adam Garner who’s bullet header gave the Kippax Keeper know chance. 1-0. After Thorpe took the lead they then started to play better football without really making many chances to extend there lead.

Half-Time came with Jose just wanting his boys to do the same as the first half, keep the ball and be as tight as you can he said. The second half started and Thorpe were starting to be pressurised by the Physical Kippax side and had it not been for the back 5 of Cutler,Knights,Moore,Emmet and Clamp they could of well have conceded early on. With 15 minutes remaining Thorpe’s Top Scorer Wayne Brook was put clean through only for the Kippax Keeper to close him down but Brook held his nerve and picked out Josh O’Neill who from 20 yards clipped a superb chip over the stranded Keeper to score his 1st goal of the season and what a time to score it. Thorpe then got nervy and as Emmet dove in to block a shot the ball struck his hand and the ref gave a penalty which was duly dispatched by the Kippax Striker. Thorpe then saw out the game with the whole team of Cutler,Knights,Moore,Emmet,Clamp,Lyon,Collier,O’Neill,Garner,Brook,Wood(capt)

Plus subs:O’Neill Senior, Carter and Fowler play there part in a great Cup Final and hold out for the 2-1 Victory to add their 2nd trophy of the season.

Jose Logue commented after the game I could not have asked for more this season, my boys have done me proud, 3rd in the League,2 cup Final Wins, and knocked out in 2 cups in the semis and quarter on penalties. Now we have to build and regroup for next Season to try and better this years performance. I would like to thank all the support we have had this year and our Sponsors, Mayfair Taps and Showers and J Glassby Haulage.

Severus   6 - 1   Thorpe United
Thorpe United went into this game against the Champions and league leaders knowing that nothing less than a victory would do if they had any realistic ambitions of overturning Severus’s lead in the league.

Thorpe got off to a terrible start when Severus’s left back carried the ball 30 yards unchallenged and rifled a shot into the top right hand corner.  Clearly rattled by the host’s quick start, Thorpe rode their luck but managed to hit back when Garner was sent down the left wing and after beating two men was upended in the box.  Steve Lyon coolly slotted the penalty home.  Thorpe failed to carry this on though and a defensive mix up between Moore and Cutler, who have both been in fine form this season, allowed the Severus winger to slot into an empty net.  Worse was to follow as a free kick just inside the Thorpe half some how managed to bounce its way over Cutler to give Severus a 3-1 half time lead.

The second half saw chances at both ends but ultimately Thorpe’s need to chase the game cost them and had their defence breached a further three times by a very impressive Severus attack, whose work rate and movement caused Thorpe’s back four problems all game.

Jose Logue commented after the game: “A result like this hurts.  My players are hurting and that’s good.  It shows me that they care for the badge of Thorpe Utd and their team mates.  Hopefully this will make us all stronger for the remaining league games plus the cup finals.  In fact I know it will” He added his congratulations to Severus for their victory but warned them not to take their foot off the gas because his team would not be easing up.

Thorpe United   2 - 1   Hounds FC
Thorpe went into the York FA Senior Cup Final against local rivals Hounds FC on the back of securing 3rd place in the league with 2 Cup Finals to play in with Hounds FC finishing in 2nd.

Thorpe went into the game which was played at Tockwith wanted to bring the Trophy home. Thorpe started brightly and even though the rain was pouring down it didnt stop Thorpe from getting the ball down and playing, Thorpe tore into the Hounds from the word go not letting the Favourites have anytime at all, forcing mistakes and after great work down the right from Brook and Wood, Captain Wood's cross come shot was controlled by Garner who clinically finished from 6 yards with his so called weaker left foot.1-0 to Thorpe. Thorpe were straight back on the offensive with Garner in the free role tearing the Hounds defence apart and when Clear on goal was brought down for a Penalty. Captain Wood stepped up but his strike was wide of the target.

Half-Time came and Jose Logue wanted the same again 2nd half saying the job was only half done and that Thorpe had it all to do again. Thorpe started the second half with the same hunger as the first with Brook and O'Neill bossing proceeding through the middle with Lyon and O'Brien neat and tidy on the flanks always available and causing problems for the Hounds full backs. Thorpe’s defence was pretty much untroubled until Hounds top striker Chris Harkin got a shot away which took a cruel deflection of Gavin Clamp which totally wrong footed the stranded Cutler.1-1. Thorpe then had it all to do again but were determined to bring home the Trophy and with 10 minutes remaining a cross field pass from Wood was nodded down by Garner to the onrushing Top-Scorer Brook who smashed home from 12 yards with his left foot giving the keeper no chance. 2-1. Thorpe were then put under pressure and with a Back 5 of Cutler,Knights,Moore,Emmet and Clamp there was no way Thorpe were going to lose the lead for a 2nd time and despite everything Hounds through at Thorpe it was repelled time and Time again. Thorpe held out and the final whistle blew with Thorpe victorious and well deserved.
