Welcome to Thorpe United under 10's
Manager’s Thompson (Blues) and Gleeson (Greens) would like to welcome all players and parents to the start of the long awaited 2007-2008 season.
As you are all now aware the team has for one season only had to be split into 2 teams due to the size of the squad, with 26 players currently been signed on. Regarding the Blues I have been very happy with our pre-season form finishing as semi finalists in the 3 tournaments we’ve entered, and would like to thank all players for all their hard work in training. New editions Reece Dean and Sam Hazell have fitted in well and given us more strength in depth than I felt we had last year and providing we carry on playing our favoured passing game I believe we will be challenging for the Blue division title.
During the 2006-2007 season Thomas Try and Eliott Holmes were defensively very strong but the team struggled on occasion in front of goal. Pre season friendlies have found Lewis Thompson and Harry Fox re-discovering their goal scoring form of previous season’s, add to that last years top goal scorer Chris Donnelly, new signing Dean and the strong right foot of Elliott Walsh hopefully this year we should have goals in abundance! And with Sam Hazell and Nathan Sedman we also have two strong lads who work tirelessly for the team.
I’m sure if you ask any of the players they would tell you that on the occasions the opposition do manage to break down our resistance they could not ask for better goalkeepers than either Liam Lawton or George Walters who were jointly awarded, “Managers Player Of The Year” for 2006-2007 season.
Once again I’d like to thank you for all your help after games and I’m sure we can rely on your continued support of the whole team. Fingers crossed this year will see us all rewarded for our hard work and sportsmanship attitude.
On a personal level I would like to thank Sean Gleeson and Mick Clay who have agreed to run the Green team for the 2007-2008 Season and hope you give them the same support as you have given me over the past couple of years.
Special thanks go out to Arriva Travel and Otisdale Estate Agents whom thanks to their generous sponsorship we have been able to purchase new kits for both the Blue and Green teams.
