York U15 Minor League Division 1
Thorpe United U15   12 – 0   Brooklyn U15

Thorpe manager Darren Yorke had the luxury of a fully fit and available squad for this totally one side 12-0 victory over  Brooklyn in div 1. After arriving late from Malton due to traffic problems, the referee allowed a 2-30pm k.o. and time for the visitors to prepare on the borrowed pitch at Hambleton due to Thorpe's home pitches all being in use. The result was never in doubt from the k.o. as the home defence was rarely threatened and Thorpe were rampant in front of goal. Dec Copley rattled in a hat trick, the first goal being cracked home after a good cross from James Leadbeater, the 2nd after a Josh Brigham header found Copley who made no mistake for 2-0. Brooklyn had a short period of pressure with 3 successive corners with the wind and then a great tip over save from keeper Danny May with  the visitors only shot of the game. Jack Ashmore made it 3 after a superb ball sliced  open the defence. After HT Copley completed his hat trick with a rifled in a shot after an excellent corner from Ryan McEvoy in his first game since breaking a collar bone. Leadbeatter made it 5 with another fine effort, the 6th a headed own goal from a quick fire Gavin Higgins cross. Jordon Lodge got the first of his brace for goal number 7 with a strong header from another Higgins cross. Mark Dickinson in an unfamiliar striking role after moving up from the back line, smashed home goal 8 with McEvoy hitting no 9 from long range. Lodge got his second with a delightful chip over the keeper for the 10th and Ben Yorke wrapped things with a smart header after another superb Higgins cross.

York Minor League U15's Cup Semi-Final
Rawcliffe U15   1 – 3   Thorpe United U15

Despite not fulfilling their potential in this years div 1 league championship campaign, Thorpe United U15’s reached their 2nd cup final of the season with an excellent 1-3 away win at reigning champions Rawcliffe. Thorpe have won all 4 encounters with Rawcliffe this season, this being by far the best performance. Apart from an extremely wobbly first 10 mins, in which Rawcliffe’s Andy Lee headed in unmarked from the home teams first corner, Thorpe’s performance just got better and better as the game progressed, despite ongoing injury problems affecting team selection. After Rawcliffe scored, stand in keeper Ben Yorke somehow spilled a thumping shot onto, then over the bar and Thorpe survived a scare. However worse almost came when another unmarked attacker headed wide when it would have been easier to score. The visitors survived and then had a shot cleared off the line before sub and star of the match Gavin Higgins chased a long ball into the right hand corner and squared for Copley to smash the ball home for 1-1. After HT Thorpe were rarely threatened and Higgins turned from provider to scorer when Lodge chipped the keeper and Higgin’s superbly hit the ball home. Pullan and Ashmore were both subbed with injuries and a re-jigged Thorpe back line held up well with Higgins running the show from the right hand side. He scored his second after sub Keeper May kicked long and hard for Higgins to steal in and secure the win for 1 - 3 . After that Littlewood nearly topped an excellent game for himself after a great long range volley was somehow hacked off the line with the keeper all at sea. Thorpe can now play out the league season relaxed knowing they have both the FA & League Cup Finals to look forward to and then re launch into next seasons league campaign with at least one new signing in the offing.
York Minor League U15's Division 1
Thorpe United U15   1 – 1   Easingwold Town U15

The spoils were shared between 2 very competitive and combative teams in Thorpe U15's final home match of this years Div 1 campaign. Apart from a 15 min spell in the first half, Thorpe totally dominated the game and should and could have won by a big margin. Unfortunately this seasons Achilles heel was resurrected and poor finishing and cruel luck conspired to ensure
that victory eluded the villagers. Thorpe played some sparkling and extremely attractive passing football that had manager Darran Yorke purring but against the run of play in very wet conditions, Mark Spetch cruelly turned in a cross come shot to see the visitors go ahead. Thorpe were all over Town like a rash and created chance after chance but went into HT 0-1 down.
Thorpe started where they left off and patience paid off when Dec Copley terrifically held off 3 defenders, regained his composure after slipping and calmly side footed into the net for 1-1. Thorpe took the game by the scruff of the neck with midfielders Ryan McEvoy and Tom Littlewood playing through some fine passes up to striker Jordon Lodge who finished brilliantly into the corner only to see the goal chalked off in a highly debatable off side decision. Easingwold had a break when through on goal but the striker blazed over the bar, when a long Thorpe ball up front found it's way to Lodge who would have been through and clear on goal only to see the visitors keeper clatter into him and both players down injured for at least 5 mins. Both went off injured in what was a major turning point in the game, but the Referee gave what he saw and both teams carried on in frantic pace until time ran out on Thorpe and a failure to capitalise and take their chances saw another point dropped. THE HOME SIDE ALSO LOST JACK ASHMORE AND GAV HIGGINS TO INJURY, HIGGINS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL WITH A BROKEN COLLAR BONE. Thorpe have 2 league games remaining away at Uleskelf and Bishopthorpe before the FA and League Cup Finals and a tour in Holland from 23-26 May.
